Based in the historic walled garden of Staveley Hall in Chesterfield, not only do we offer a friendly, professional garden nursery environment with a fantastic selection of quality plants for all seasons but we also host markets, run events showcasing local craftspeople and offer horticulture services and advice to the local community.

At weekends you can enjoy a warm welcome and a good, no-frills, hot cup of tea (or coffee... and home made cake!) at our coffee cabin. All are welcome - especially dogs. We pride ourselves on being a dog-friendly garden centre.

As a garden centre, we are committed to supporting the growth of the local economy in Staveley, Chesterfield. By supplying locally-grown produce for local people we help to reduce the carbon footprint in this part of Derbyshire.

Staveley Hall Garden Centre is a proud supporter of East Midlands in Bloom - helping to make Staveley a bright and popular place for tourists and locals alike. We are supportive of local schools and colleges (such as Landmark College by providing educational and work experience opportunities; and of local community projects that help to promote Staveley's heritage and assets.

Our working nursery is where all the plants are cared for by our highly experienced staff and grown to what we consider to be a usable size for your garden.

Producing our own stock means that we can keep a close eye on all of our plants and seedlings and ensure that the quality of our bedding stock is kept to the highest standards.

We are also more than happy to talk through your specific planting needs and offer any help and advice we can with regards to our extensive collection of shrubs, ornamental and fruit trees, conifers and bedding plants.

Our on-site expert florist, Jayne, will be happy to discuss your needs and offer advice on the perfect combination of flowers and style of arrangement.

Products & plants we stock

As well as a comprehensive selection of bedding plants (the largest selection in the area) we also boast a fantastic selection of hardy English grown shrubs and a wide selection of trees from the slightly exotic to common landscape varieties, including conifers.

SHGC offers a large variety of fruit trees and bushes, as well as many different types of herbs and perennials, alpines and heathers and ornamental grasses. We also sell tailor made wooden troughs and garden furniture to suit all. We also supply fencing products and offer an installation service.

Our hanging basket specialist is always on hand for fabulous seasonal displays and for Christmas trees, look no further than our extensive range of firs, spruce and pine (From November)!

We offer a wide range of services to the public and commercial sectors including: grounds maintenance, preventative gritting, snow clearance, contracted hanging basket displays and maintenance, landscaping (hard/soft), indoor floral/plant displays (supply and maintenance), highway floral displays (eg roundabouts) and maintenance.

For our home customers we offer professional horticultural advice (on/off site), landscaping (hard and soft), landscape design services, free estimates and advice and a local delivery service

And of course, floristry for all occasions.

  For our summer festival we are extending our monthly food and craft fayre over two days. It will offer local farm foods, produce and a wide range of bespoke crafts. Food stalls include: rare breed pork, buffalo cheeses, breads, cakes, jams/chutneys; potted meats, honey, sweets, fruit/vegetables. Crafts stalls include: jewellery, scarves, bags, knitwear, bath and beauty products, handmade cards, woodturning, glassware, paintings and much, much more
